In 2004, Busan Station was expanded and renovated in line with the opening of the Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway. The station has land area of 211,536㎡, building area of 38,946㎡, and total floor area of 61,880㎡. It was constructed with a steel frame and reinforced concrete with 5 floors above the ground and 1 below. It has central heating and air conditioning facilities, 10 escalators and 11 elevators. The 16,457㎡ parking lot can hold 245 passenger cars. Tourist attractions nearby include Beomeosa Temple (26 km), Dongnae Hot Springs (16 km), Taejongdae Park (11.4 km), Songdo (5.4 km), and Haeundae (20.7 km).

금련산은 연제구에 속하는 산이라고 할 수 있는데, 이 산중에는 범어사에 버금가는 역사를 가진 마하사란 절이 고고한 자태를 뽐내며 자리잡고 있다.

마하사의 마하(Maha)는 산스크리트어로 그 뜻은 "훌륭한" "존귀한" "위대한"이란 뜻이다. 결국 마하사란 이름은 글자 그대로 풀이하면 "훌륭한 사찰"이란 뜻이다. 예로부터 이 마하사가 위치한 지형은 이른바 금학이 알을 품는 금학포란(金鶴包卵)의 형세라고 하여 절 입구에 들어서는 순간 따뜻한 기운이 절로 넘친다고 전해온다.

마하사의 창건 연대에 대해서는 정확한 기록이 없다. 다만 지난 1965년~1970년 대대적인 중창불사를 단행하던 중 대웅전 건물에서 "상량문" 이 발견되었는데, 그 상량문에서 마하사를 아도화상(阿道和尙)이 창건했다는 기록이 있었다고 하여 마하사의 창건시기를 신라 내물왕대로 추측할 뿐이라고 한다
